Nancy Milby, one of the county’s top wine experts and owner of SoCo’s LCA Wine, plans a food and wine event, Uncorked, from 5 to 7 p.m. April 16 at her new store.
Milby is a Certified Sommelier and instructor for the French Wine Scholar and the Wine & Spirits Education Trust and hosts classes regularly at her shop, which doubles as an education facility. She relocated to Costa Mesa last year after being based in Laguna Beach for 12 years, where Uncorked became a popular neighborhood event.
The first annual SoCo event will be in the shopping center’s open-air courtyard and will feature live music. Guests will taste wines from more than 30 global producers, which Milby will pair with culinary offerings from nearby restaurants and shops, including ST Patisserie Chocolat, Bistro Papillote by La Cuisine, Pueblo, Taco Maria, Arc, We Olive, the Cheese Shop, Portola Coffee, The Mixing Glass, and of course, LCA Wine.
General admission is $80 and includes all wine-tastings and bites. VIP tickets start at $180 and include general admission plus your choice of either a preceding tasting event with Master Sommelier Peter Neptune at the Neptune School of Wine inside LCA Wine, or a food-and-wine pairing at Surfas Culinary District.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Project Hope Alliance, a Costa Mesa-based non-profit committed to ending child homelessness in Orange County. The Costa Mesa Visitors’ Bureau is a partner in the event.
