Historical Periods of Anti-Semitism
- Pre-Christian anti-Judaism in ancient Greece and Rome, primarily ethnic in nature
- Early Christian and, after the seventh century, Muslim anti-Semitism based on religious opposition and the idea, for Christians, that the Jews had killed Christ
- Racial anti-Semitism arising in the 19th century and culminating in the Holocaust
- Recent and ongoing political anti-Semitism spurred by opposition to the 65-year-old state of Israel, and the belief that it is racist
- Contemporary intellectual anti-Semitism (sometimes referred to as the “new” anti-Semitism) represented by thinkers such as MacDonald who oppose immigration and multiculturalism
