When your child needs surgery, you want a physician with skill, experience and compassion. The dedicated team of physicians at Pediatric Surgical Associates has been providing children and their families with the highest caliber of surgical care over 25 years. Their expertise ranges from treating complex newborn anomalies’ reconstruction to minimally invasive/robotic and cancer surgeries, as well as routine elective procedures.
“We care not only for the patient but also for the family,” says Dr. German. “We spend a lot of time comforting parents and providing emotional support. That’s what sets our practice apart.”
For more than 35 years, Dr. German has taken a leadership role in shaping pediatric surgery in Orange County. He received his medical training at the University of California, Irvine and his pediatric surgical fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. He is one of the pioneers in developing ECMO, which is a heart/lung bypass machine that has saved the lives of many neonates and children.
Dr. Gholizadeh completed pediatric surgery fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C. and an extra year of Fellowship in Pediatric Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York. She specializes in pediatric and neonatal surgeries, as well as pediatric oncological and minimally invasive surgeries.
“Our compassion and years of combined experience make our practice unique,” says Dr. Gholizadeh. “I’ve had families tell me: ‘If you move, I’m moving with you!’ We go out of our ways to build relationships with the families we serve.”
Dr. Lam attended Harvard Medical School and completed his general surgical training at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He then completed his pediatric surgery fellowship at the Children’s Memorial Hospital, Chicago. Dr. Lam specializes in pediatric and neonatal surgeries, as well as minimally invasive and robotic surgeries, chest deformity surgeries, and oncological surgeries.
As a physician and a father, Dr. Lam is committed to treating each patient like his own child. “I am very personal with my patients and their family; therefore, they trust me and feel very comfortable with me,” he says. “It’s very rewarding performing surgeries to help kids recover and live normal, quality lives.”
Dr. Guner joined the Pediatric Surgical Association of Orange County in 2013. He completed his fellowship at University of Texas in Houston, where his training was conducted at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center and Texas Children’s Hospital. Dr Guner also specializes in all areas of pediatric and neonatal surgeries. He has many publications and is well recognized among his peers.
“We all have different background and strengths,” explains Dr. Guner. “We take a collaborative approach when it comes to treating patients, working closely with pediatricians, hospital staff and other specialists to get the best possible results.”
