An alluring place to live
I love getting up in the morning and seeing the ocean—you can’t help but wake up in a good mood. My husband, Steve, and I often walk down to the beach or to Town Center for dinner with friends. We get in our 10,000 steps a day that way.
Call to serve
We came here to retire, buy our last house, and live out our years in a friendly beach town. I decided to go into city government when I saw that sense of community being threatened by development that was out of character with our neighborhoods.
Celebrating the ocean
Our waters are home to a diverse marine ecosystem, which we celebrate every March with the Festival of Whales, featuring a parade, live concerts, a sand‑sculpting competition, and more.
