Weekend Shopping: Dudes, Boards, and Brides

KEP made to measure men's fashion
Rocker Made-to-Measure
Men’s fashion in Southern California is iconic—but our options tend to lean toward sartorial casualness, from the famed straw fedora to the prevalence of tanks and boardshorts. We don’t exude street cred. We created beach cred.

But new shop Klein Epstein & Parker, located at The Lab, is betting it’s time for fellas to elevate their game with made-to-measure Italian suiting—modeled by none other than rock drummer Josh Freese, who has played with Sting, Guns & Roses, Nine Inch Nails, The Offspring, Avril Lavigne, Weezer, The Dixie Chicks, and Sublime. If that doesn’t tempt Orange County men to up the ante, we don’t know what will. Check out the brand-new store at 2930 Bristol St., Costa Mesa, kleinepsteinparker.com.

Vintage Surf Finds
Shopping more for the house than yourself? Surf culture is a huge part of the Orange County identity, so this weekend’s “California Gold” Vintage Surf Auction, presented by Quiksilver Waterman Collection, is a must-see whether you partake in the sport or not. More than 50 surfboards, an iconic, handmade surf book, and other memorabilia will be up for auction.

Up for grabs: a rare 1930s-era redwood board discovered by Dick Metz decades ago in Laguna Beach, in original, unrestored condition. The board is 8-feet, 8-inches long, with a rounded tail, and expected to fetch $4,000 to $8,000 at auction.

Held at the OC Fair & Events Center and benefiting San Clemente’s Surfing Heritage & Cultural Center, the event starts at noon with the live auction beginning at 5 p.m. More info at thevintagesurfauction.com.

Brides for Boston
Local bridal company Enzoani has come up with a unique “Brides for Boston” fundraiser. The luxury line designed in Tustin by Kang Chun Lin is asking women everywhere to send in excess scraps from their wedding gown fittings by July 31 so that Enzoani’s designers can create an original gown including every swatch. A subsequent auction of the one-of-a-kind wedding dress will benefit victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. Send scraps to: Brides for Boston, ℅ Enzoani, 1382 Valencia Ave., Tustin, CA 92780.
