O.C. Answer Man: When and where did Orange County’s first In-N-Out Burger outlet open?

This family-owned chain—launched in 1948 in Baldwin Park by Harry and Esther Snyder and now headquartered in Irvine—didn’t add an Orange County branch until 1975, the same year it added milkshakes to the menu. This location, at 815 N. Bristol St. in Santa Ana, opened with little fanfare, no indoor seating, and short drive- through queues that failed to anticipate O.C.’s impending In-N-Out love affair. But it’s still going strong. If you see a tall guy there in a Hawaiian shirt ordering a No. 1 combo with grilled onions and no spread, please say hello.
