Modern Orange County is a patchwork of forgotten places, of boomtowns gone bust and farm towns swallowed by cities. Traces of them still exist—a street sign here, a stray post office or church name there—but they’re unexplained glimpses of a past unceremoniously obliterated by the present. In the June 2013 issue, we sent Orange Coast Managing Editor Jim Walters back in time, into the Orange County Archives, to rediscover places that once were.
