Fans of Sanrio’s most beloved character can enjoy tea, crafted cocktails, desserts, and more starting September 14 at the world’s first Hello Kitty Grand Cafe at Irvine Spectrum. Near the Giant Wheel, the front of the cafe offers guests a variety of desserts and drinks including cakes, mini pies, and cookies ($4 to $15) as well as lattes, hot chocolate, and smoothies ($4.50 to $5.50). The storefront also has several photo opportunities such as a pink neon sign that reads “Hot Donuts” above a window where you can watch mini donuts being made. There’s also a light pink backdrop covered with sprinkles, desserts, and, of course, Hello Kitty just behind one of the tables.
At the back of the cafe is a white door with a gold knocker in the shape of a bow. Behind the door is The Bow Room, the cafe’s ultra pink speakeasy decorated with white marble accents. Enjoy teatime for two ($55) Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Besides tea, the service includes a three-tiered tower of savory and sweet bites.
On Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m., The Bow Room serves cocktails. Choose from Instagram-worthy drinks such as the bright teal Dear Daniel with tequila, mezcal, pineapple, lime, and salted coconut whip, or the You Had Me At Hello that comes in a white Hello Kitty shaped cup decorated with mint leaves and edible flowers.
