A Preview of Disney’s New Halloween Party: Oogie Boogie Bash

For the first time, the special ticketed event that allows children and adults alike to dress up and trick or treat at Disneyland is moving to Disney California Adventure. Last night, we got a sneak peek of the frightful fun guests can expect including a hauntingly beautiful overlay of Redwood Creek Challenge Trail and “Villainous!,” a new “World of Color” show featuring some of your favorite villains and a new character designed by Eric Goldberg, the animator who brought us Genie. Here is a helpful overview of “Oogie Boogie Bash,” which will occur on 20 select nights from Sept. 17 to Oct. 31.

GOOD TO KNOW

➜ The party takes inspiration from “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” specifically the film’s burlap sack baddie Oogie Boogie.
➜ There will be atmospheric projection mapping on Carthay Circle that will change throughout the night such as Maleficent’s vines, candy corn spilling through the windows, bats, and even Oogie Boogie himself.
➜ There will be a custom soundtrack of Halloween tunes, including reimagined villain songs.
➜ You will have the opportunity to meet rare characters.
➜ Cars Land’s ‘Haul-O-Ween” overlay, the “Coco”-themed Plaza de la Familia, and Guardians of the Galaxy—Monsters After Dark can all be enjoyed at this after-hours event.

RETURNING ELEMENTS

➜ There will be about 10 villain-themed treat trails, with some villains making a cameo and interacting with guests as they make their way through.
➜ The “Frightfully Fun Parade” will hit the streets of Disney California Adventure with the Headless Horseman leading the charge and the mischievous Cheshire Cat joining the fun for the first time.

NEW ELEMENTS

➜ There will be a high-energy Descendants-themed dance party at the Hollywood Backlot Stage for kids of all ages.
➜ A family-friendly stage show “Mickey’s Trick and Treat,” will make its debut at the Disney Junior stage in Hollywood Land.
➜ The Villains Grove overlay will transform Redwood Creek Challenge Trail to an enchanting forest reflecting the world of villains such as Frollo from “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” through the use of projections, special effects, and an ethereal soundtrack.
➜ The “World of Color” show “Villainous!,” will have a narrative centered around an eccentric, young girl named “Shelley Marie” who embraces her “inner villain” for Halloween, with the help of Disney’s most iconic villains. Expect stunning animation (spearheaded by Eric Goldberg) and laser effects, even more mesmerizing fire elements, a remix of classic songs such as “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” cameos from lovable villains such as Hades, and more.
