DR. Angela Huntsman’s healthy aging psychology brings to life the adage “sometimes the best medicine, isn’t medicine.” A psychologist with 20-years experience, Dr. Huntsman brings about the change people seek.
“Regardless of the phase of life, treating the root causes of anxiety and depression, and not just knocking out the symptoms with drugs, brings about better health outcomes. Healthy aging psychology understands that our life choices have a profound impact on how we age, as we age.”
Her approach does not seek to analyze childhood trauma; rather, Dr. Huntsman strengthens inner motivation in short bursts of sessions to provide new tools for problemsolving. “Most people are closer to where they want to be than they think they are.”
Many who come to her are part of the caregiver ‘sandwich’ generation: multi-tasked and overwhelmed, caring for someone along with work and/or children.
Dr. Huntsman uses targeted assessments to identify root causes. In addition to individual sessions, she offers group therapy and free stress seminars at her Newport Beach practice.
Her practice also focuses on brain health for adults as an important part of the healthy aging process. Memory loss patients access current research-based practices for greater focus and neuroplasticity.
Dr. Huntsman delivers caring and practical treatment for those who want better outcomes in the core areas of mind, motivation and memory.
On staff at Hoag, Dr. Huntsman is also on clinical faculty at UCLA’s Department of Geriatric Psychiatry/Longevity Center, publishes research, and consults with businesses.
