Live life better. This is the ultimate goal ClubSport, an Aliso Viejo-based fitness resort, strives to help its members achieve. “Every year, people tend to set lofty goals of, ‘I’ve got to become a whole new person,’” Katie Prodoehl, ClubSport’s VP of Marketing, says. “ClubSport encourages another way of thinking: make one small change. Tiny steps add up to big results over time; they make life better.” What ClubSport believes they equate to: Happiness.
ClubSport’s approach to tackling tiny steps is a focus on fitness, wellness, and mental health. It accomplishes this by going beyond being merely a gym. “There’s so much beyond cardio and strength training that goes into being healthy,” Prodoehl says.
Key to meeting this criterion is an idyllic location: Renaissance ClubSport Aliso Viejo. The facility includes an aquatic center, racquet sports courts, and Citrus Fresh Grill & Market. Added to the mix is the full-service R Spa, along with saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools, and a hot tub. Not to be left out, 174 hotel rooms, a Marriott property, perfect for easy overnight getaways. “In our minds, being healthy isn’t necessarily about jumping on a treadmill for 30 minutes,” Prodoehl says. “It’s about taking time for yourself, whether that be lunching with a friend by the patio fire pit or getting an aromatherapy massage at R Spa.”
Of course, fitness is something ClubSport places great value on. In 2022, the property underwent a transformation, unveiling The Edge, a functional performance training space. Ideal for cross-training, the 5,000-square-foot zone of open turf is equipped with weighted sleds, kettlebells, battle ropes, and power racks. The Edge’s scalability makes it accessible to athletes of all skill levels.
Then there’s ClubSport’s Formula3 studio offering boutique-style fitness classes incorporating water rowers, sprinters, and TRX suspension training. Also on tap is a Pilates Studio with reformers. Prefer court sports? These are popular amongst ClubSport members, who seek friendly competition through everything from basketball and racquetball to squash and the hot new trend, pickleball.
Through ClubSport’s various programs, friendships are often fostered. “We’re always creating experiences that promote a sense of community and connection,” Prodoehl says. One way ClubSport does so is through their Life Hack series. This monthly offering ranges from educational seminars on skin health and nutrition to learning new skills like flower arranging and wine tasting. In need of some Zen? Monthly sound baths, often paired with restorative yoga, are on the roster.
A big part of ClubSport’s community: families. Activity-based childcare is available through Kids World, with three hours per day of complimentary childcare for ages six months to 12 years open to the members. Additional kid programs include swimming classes through Evolution Swim Academy and seasonal camps.
Behind every ClubSport fitness and wellness opportunity is a supportive environment to guide members toward peak mental and physical health for “a life well experienced.” And, as Prodoehl puts it, “To ensure our members just feel happier.”
