Wisdom from a Green Educator
Sue Bierlich, who ran the Little Naturalists Camp at the Environmental Nature Center in Newport Beach, will direct its new Nature Preschool program.

Fostering a love of nature …
Unfortunately, many children are not getting outdoors every day. We need to encourage this to happen more. We also need to teach children to take care of nature in sustainable ways, like recycling, reusing, repurposing, and composting.

Spreading the word …
One of the best parts of my job is when children teach other children something they learned at the ENC. That, to me, represents the rippling effect our organization is having in
our community.

Magic moments …
When a child crosses our creek for the first time, jumps across rocks, holds a snake, or lets a walking stick crawl up their arm, I feel truly grateful to witness that sense of confidence.

Green values …
My husband and I tried to be mindful about teaching our children to care for and respect all living things. I hope the Nature Preschool has the same impact on generations of families
to come.
