Living in a mixed-use area offers various perks—nightlife, great dining options, and, in this case, ocean breezes and views of the water. Built in 2019, this contemporary home in Newport Beach’s Cannery Village is a short walk to Lido Marina Village as well as Balboa Peninsula. Enter through 12-foot pocket doors that lead into the great room with 19-foot vaulted ceilings. Take the elevator or glass staircase to the second level, where there’s a family room and two bedrooms. The master suite on the third floor has a walk-in closet and a master bath with a shower and soaking tub. It also has an additional family room with 8-foot pocket doors that lead to a spacious deck. Wisdom from A Community Builder
Madeleine Spencer is the executive directing consultant at the Santa Ana Business Council and plans community events, including the Downtown Santa Ana Artwalk.
Why community events are important …
Community events provide a space where people can move outside of the daily grind of school and work to meet in a comfortable way over food, drink, dance, music, and all the enriching art forms that bring joy and have always animated the human spirit.
Coming up with event ideas …
People tell us what they want, and we work with them to manifest it. Folks said they wanted a space for youth to share their visual and performing art for the community and others said they wanted literature. We (brought) the two ideas together, and Boca de Oro Festival of Literary Arts and Culture was born.
Favorite part of the job …
(I love) when an inactive space is now full as if it had never been empty and you hear people talking about it in the streets. I remember the thrill of hearing a group of girls walking together down La Cuatro all dressed up, laughing and asking each other who they would dance with (at the Dancing in the Streets event).
