This Week’s O.C. Food News (Dec. 14 to 20)

Yakitori from Fable and Spirit

From Fable and Spirit’s new takeout menu to family-style takeout options, here is our weekly guide to the latest in O.C.’s dining scene.

Fable and Spirit
Newport Beach
A new takeaway menu dubbed the “Fable Express” includes yakitori skewers, grilled-to-order over charcoal on the restaurant patio. Choose from proteins such as prime ribcap, pork belly, octopus, chicken thigh, and wild white shrimp. There’s also a veggie option with mushroom, sweet onion, and red bell pepper. Salads, burgers, sandwiches, and fish and chips are also available. Place your orders in advance by calling 949-409-9913.

Bourbon Steak
Dana Point
The Monarch Beach Resort restaurant recently launched a to-go program featuring entrees such as Delmonico ribeye and Faroe Island salmon and desserts such as warm-spiced beignets. You can also add bottles of wine from the cellar.

Hive & Honey
While dining on the rooftop bar is on pause, you can still order sips and bites to-go. A $50 family-style meal includes two Neapolitan-style pizzas, your choice of salad, and a bottle of wine. Add the Whistle Pig orange old-fashioned cocktail kit for $45 (serves three).

Water Grill
Costa Mesa
Shop the restaurant’s selection of fresh, high-quality seafood, produce, and meat. Highlights include Chilean sea bass, King crab legs, Kumamoto oysters, locally caught swordfish, and Wagyu New York and ribeye steaks. The market is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Wild Taco
Laguna Beach and Newport Beach
The Baja California-style taqueria is offering a Family Fiesta Pack with your choice of meat (pollo asado, carne asada, carnitas), rice and beans, flour or corn tortillas, and salsas ($25 for two, $50 for four). Upgrade your protein to the fresh catch of the day for $10.

Garden Grove
Various vendors are offering at-home kits since dining is restricted at the open-air food hall. Get barbecue kits featuring Korean and Filipino flavors from Barrio, trays of lasagna and meatballs from Merenda Pizza, and holiday boxes that include a special Christmas blend from Dark Horse Coffee Roasters.

Dec. 19 from 12 to 4 p.m.
Blinking Owl Distillery
Santa Ana
At the distillery’s “Holiday To Go-Go” pop-up market, shop from local artisans including Dough & Arrow, 61 Hundred Bread, Small Batch Doughnuts, and Tan’s Dumplings. You can also pick up Blinking Owl’s to-go cocktails, holiday gift packs, and hand sanitizer.
