The same chef who brought us the irresistible spaghetti grilled cheese (a longtime Orange Coast staff favorite) comes a brunch menu filled with savory comfort classics and a fresh take on the traditional pancake stack.
The Japanese-style soufflé pancakes are the must-have dish with three flavor options including original with house-made butter and syrup, berry compote with house-made whipped cream, and strawberries and cream. The exhibition kitchen lets you observe chef-owner Paul Cao’s seemingly effortless mastery of a challenging recipe—and possibly get some tips for all you daring home cooks. The pancakes are light, fluffy, and delightfully jiggly (we see your mimosa toast brunch Boomerang, and we raise it with a jiggly Japanese-style soufflé pancake Boomerang).
Round out your meal with items such as avocado toast with house ricotta, a soft scrambled egg and cheddar cheese sandwich (on a housemade biscuit or brioche bun), and a baby kale and arugula salad with crispy potatoes, fried egg, and citrus vinaigrette. Also try the Vietnamese coffee, breakfast sangria, and mimosas.
The hip, casual eatery (with locations in Huntington Beach and Irvine) officially debuts the pop-up brunch ($3 to $12) on Jan. 18 at the Los Olivos Marketplace location from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Regular weekend brunch service begins Jan. 25.
