Santa Ana’s Newest Food Hall: McFadden Public Market

New culinary collective, McFadden Public Market—from restaurateur Leonard Chan (Iron Press, Hatch, Shuck Oyster Bar) and partner Phillip Kwan—combines foodie fun with a vintage arcade bar for craft-cocktail fans and game fanatics. Chef Nathaniel Nguyen of Rooster Republic offers fried chicken made with a white barbecue sauce At Milk Man, the milkshakes, sundaes, and floats are fashioned of house-made ice cream in distinctive flavors such as PB&J and banana pudding; if you like, top your serving with a tiny cone filled with a second flavor. En Tu Boca chef Carlo Castaneda presents blue-corn tacos with influences from across the Pacific—options include sisig, seared ahi, and sinigang pork belly as well as burritos and bowls. At Bone Stock, Jason Pham offers pho and appetizers such as Spring-ception, two egg rolls wrapped in a giant spring roll. There are two bars: the seasonally inspired Under Control and the 1980s-themed Mission Control that offers pinball games and a balcony overlooking Main Street. On the way out, vintage animatronic Zoltar tells your fortune. Food, $4 to $14; cocktails, $8 to $12. 515 N. Main St., Santa Ana, 714-850-0241, mcfaddenmarket.com.
