Diner Classics • Restaurant Marin

Breakfast all day. Lunch and dinner. No tipping—gratuity is included in the pricing, MarinEuropean-style. Chef Noah Blom and wife Marin have opened sophisticated, casual Restaurant Marin adjacent to their celebrated Arc restaurant at SoCo Collection in Costa Mesa. Marin designed, and in many cases made or refinished, every inch of the disarming decor. Modern-deco elements in brushed nickel, marine blue, and crisp white include antiqued mirrors, Italian tiles, stingray-leather booths, and French pendant lighting. Noah puts his inimitable spin on diner classics from an exhibition kitchen. Highlights include, for breakfast: the muffin, with fried eggs, aged cheddar, shaved bacon, and spinach, or the blueberry buttermilk pancakes, above;  for lunch, the roll, with butter-poached lobster and lemon-grilled shrimp; and for dinner, filet mignon stroganoff. Pies are a specialty, and bar chef extraordinaire Koire Rogers introduces a collection of bottled cocktails. The Duke combines vodka, blood orange, absinthe, and Galliano. The petite space seats 30. Breakfast, $15 to $34; lunch, $10 to $42; dinner, $27 to $45; pies, $20 to $24. 3321 Hyland Ave., 949-402-3974, restaurantmarin.com
