O.C. Food News Update

From a fall-themed pop-up dinner series to a celebratory five course prix fixe menu in honor of Mix Mix’s five year anniversary, here’s the latest update on Orange County’s dining scene!

➜ During Filipino American Heritage Month this October and in time for Mix Mix’s five year anniversary, the restaurant is offering a special five course menu featuring flavors inspired by Chef Ross Pangilinan’s heritage. While you’re there, try one of the new autumn-inspired cocktails. There’s also a Filipino pizza available at Terrace by Mix Mix with pork cheek, kombucha squash, tomato, mozzarella, and shrimp essence.

➜ A collaboration between chefs Kryssie Tinsay and Don Cherry, For the Love of Food: Flavors of Fall is a pop-up dinner series hosted at MoonGoat Coffee and GardenGoat in Garden Grove this month. Head to eatatkichen1726.com for a list of upcoming dates and event details.

➜ Paragon Café, which specializes in brunch classics, is expanding at SOCO + The OC Mix. Its new locale, set to open in November, will offer a craft cocktail program and live jazz music. Expect dishes like soft shell crab eggs Benedict and banana Foster French toast.

➜ Looking for a seasonal take on pizza? Pitfire Pizza just launched a menu of fall-inspired pies and dishes including the Smashing Pumpkin Pizza with pumpkin oil and pepitas.

➜ Blinking Owl Distillery’s new Sunday brunch service includes craveworthy dishes and brunch cocktails, from a cacio e pepe bacon breakfast pie to the Bloody Vikings (the distillery’s take on a Bloody Mary with Aquavit). Enjoy it all on their expansive patio.

➜ This fall, Toast Kitchen + Bakery is adding some seasonal items to its menu of inventive brunch fare including the black sesame French toast, sisig burrito, and barbecue ranch chicken salad. Don’t miss the elote-inspired whiskey sour served with a side of spicy kettle corn.
