Hungry Boy Thai Café
Big, hearty portions of Thai comfort food—think curries, noodles, and fried rice ($8.75)—flow out of the kitchen at this fast-casual spot, which opened in June. Everything comes with a choice of tofu, chicken, beef, or shrimp, and fresh red and green bell peppers, potatoes, zucchini, and herbs lend flavor and texture. Extra hungry? Start with savory tom yum or tom kha soup ($3.75) or fried tofu ($3). 18904 Brookhurst St., 714-941-5435

Acai bowl devotees can create their ideal bowl here: First, they pick a base, with options ranging from simple acai to a blend of pineapple, coconut, and spirulina. Then they can indulge in the unlimited toppings bar, with berries, bananas, chia pudding, granola, seeds and nuts, nut butters, honey, and agave. Superfood teas topped with boba, chia pudding, or bits of fresh fruit round out the menu. 18902 Brookhurst St., 714-599-8596

Smith Farms
Most know this small organic farm for the strawberries, tomatoes, and melons it offers in the summer, but its petite roadside produce stand is packed with fresh-picked fruits, vegetables, and herbs all year long. The family farm is also a great place to pick out a fresh-cut Christmas tree come December. 9736 Ellis Ave., 714-962-3188
