The ice-cream-sandwich options at CREAM—an acronym for “Cookies Rule Everything Around Me”—seem endless, with 20 ice-cream flavors as diverse as Green Tea and Cinnamon Chill, 20 fresh-baked mix ’n’ match cookies, and nearly 20 toppings. The first location opened in Berkeley five years ago; there are about 20 others open or in the works. Kyle Olson, owner of the Aliso Viejo and Irvine Spectrum Center shops, suggests a double-chocolate-chip cookie on top, peanut-butter cookie on bottom, and salted-caramel ice cream.
Or try the simple double-chocolate chip cookies filled with mint chocolate chip ice cream, above. The CREAM taco is a taco-shell-shaped waffle cone, red velvet or regular flavor, filled with three ice-cream flavors and two toppings. Also offered: shakes, malts, floats, and scoops. $3 to $5.
