The Beach Barrel: Casual Comfort Food and Delivery Too

Hawaiian Sticky Buns
Hawaiian Sticky Buns

Not only does The Beach Barrel serve one of O.C.’s most talked about Cuban sandwiches, it also delivers it to your Newport Beach-area door until 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and until 10 p.m. Sunday. Co-owner and chef Jared Jones brines his own pickles, creates distinct marinades for various meats, and makes 13 sauces for everything from sandwiches to desserts. Two of note are his steak sauce on the Tri-Tip and Shrooms with smoked provolone on brioche, and a tasty caramel sauce served on his Hawaiian Sticky Buns dessert with marshmallows and vanilla ice cream, above. Mad seasoning goes into the proprietary Barrel Burger before the addition of cheddar cheese, grilled peppers, red onion, avocado, and house-made Thousand Island dressing. Or try the Parmesan-encrusted just-might-be Ultimate Grilled Cheese on Parmesan Texas Toast with melted cheddar and feta and a crisp layer of fresh spinach leaves. Sandwiches are $9 to $12.
