Anchor Hitch Brings Fine and Family Friendly Dining to Mission Viejo

[Editors Note: Anchor Hitch closed April 2017]

Anchor Hitch, inaugural tenant at new Union Market Mission Viejo, brings contemporary seafood and family friendly dining to the Kaleidoscope shopping and entertainment center and arguably the first fine-dining venue to Mission Viejo. Playful decor includes a mural of a lobster and octopus engaged in claw-to-arm combat, oyster-cage light fixtures, and a wall of cross-sections of nearly 900 pipes that suggest bubbles. Executive chef Michael Pham is a protégé of Michael Cimarusti at Providence in L.A. Most dishes are served family style, including elaborate seafood towers; the abalone panna cotta with sea urchin, geoduck clam, salmon roe, lemon vinaigrette; and the wild Pacific halibut, above, with parsnip puree, wild foraged mushrooms, ginger, scallions, and roasted corn. The Parsnip Pearade cocktail combines pear brandy, fresh parsnip juice, lime juice, and pear bitters.
