How do you curate spirits?
We look for small, independent brands. Flavor is No. 1, but they also have to be ethically sourced and produced. We don’t carry celebrity tequila, for instance—generally, no money goes into the Mexican economy from celebrity tequila.
Why the new location?
It’s in a neighborhood. Before, we were in a center; you had to go there. Here, it’s like a neighborhood market—people come for pastries, bread, pantry items, cheese. … They don’t have to leave with liquor.
What’s your favorite hobby?
I started weekly ceramic classes. … Mentally, I feel rejuvenated.
Any secret talents?
Cooking. My dad was a chef; my sister’s a chef. I’ve worked with chefs forever. Now I’m excited to be able to make things and sell them.
Long-term goals?
Food is my passion. I’m trying to grow the business in a different way now. I’m trying to share the things I love most.
