Sleek and stylish 18 Folds, the county’s first all-day, fast-casual dim sum eatery, has opened in freestanding digs just steps from Anaheim Packing House. Despite the fast-casual format, dumplings are hand-wrapped and all dishes are made from scratch. Dim sum highlights include pork-and-shrimp shu mai, shrimp har gow, mildly spicy noodles, and sticky rice in lotus leaf with pork and Chinese sausage. Less traditional are originals such as bacon-wrapped shu mai, deep-fried chicken feet, and deep-fried spare ribs. Even less traditional for a dim-sum destination is the impressive lineup of craft beers from nearby breweries such as The Bruery, Bottle Logic, and Golden Road. There are also rice bowls, including one with sliced braised pork belly, and sides of mild and spicy pickled cucumbers. Finish with ube ice cream.
