While we’re on the subject of Van Gogh: A listing on the Airbnb website offers art aficionados visiting Chicago the chance to experience a night in one of the troubled artist’s famous bedrooms. It explains that Van Gogh, desperate for money to buy paints, has opened his home to other wandering souls. The lodgings aren’t for everyone: He’s been redecorating in anticipation of future guests and he’s chosen a color scheme that is particularly … vibrant. It was the Art Institute of Chicago’s idea; the museum is running “Van Gogh’s Bedrooms” featuring three different paintings of the artist’s chamber, produced over the course of a particularly turbulent year. The exhibit consists of 36 works, along with numerous personal possessions, and an opportunity to consider and explore Van Gogh’s turbulent life and emotional state.
