September Travel News: The Ark, JFK’s Terminal for Pets

Early next year, the Ark at JFK will open its doors, making it “the world’s only privately owned animal terminal and USDA-approved, full-service, 24-hour, airport quarantine facility for import and export of horses, pets, birds and livestock.” Which makes it sound as if traveling animals are merely going to be subjected to the tedium of customs. But it’s better than that: There’ll be a bone-shaped swimming pool for dogs, massage therapy, climate-controlled, naturally-lit horse stalls and herd pens, veterinary facilities, and animal departure lounges. And they’ll offer dog boarding! Visit arkjfk.com for information.
