August Travel News: American, United, and Delta Ban Hunting Trophies

Cecil the Lion is gone, but he has left a legacy: In the past few days, American, United, and Delta airlines all have announced immediate bans on the transportation of hunting trophies. These aren’t blanket bans—they apply only to lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, and water buffalo, “The Big Five”—and the frequency of pre-ban trophy transportation is thought to have been quite low. Regardless, a message has been sent: The major U.S. carriers have joined British Airways, Lufthansa, Air France, KLM, and Emirates on the list of airlines that have pledged to do what they can to make big-game hunting a little less glamorous, a little less impressive once you get back home.
