Neighborhood: Yorba Linda

Photographs by Amanda DeFrancis

At the center of quiet Yorba Linda, the low-slung Spanish-style Yorba Ranch Village shopping plaza peacefully blends into its surroundings. The 21-storefront enclave is easy to miss; but those who stop in discover friendly people at the helms of appealing shops and restaurants.

The Wild Artichoke

This intimate spot highlights artichokes in surprising ways—say, in savory napoleons ($7.50) and beignets ($8)—and offers fried chicken, meatloaf, and handmade pasta ($17 to $25). 4973 Yorba Ranch Road, 714-777-9646, thewildartichoke.com

Fig Leaf

Tops and pants ($40 to $100) from designers such as Beyond Yoga and OMGirl are great for Pilates, but also look good while you’re running errands. They come in a wide range of colors at this welcoming workout-clothing boutique. 4935 Yorba Ranch Road, 714-340-0034

OC Wine Mart & Deli

Hard-to-find bottles of wine and craft beer fill half of this large shop, leaving room for an L-shaped bar that accommodates crowds at frequent tasting events. 4925 Yorba Ranch Road, 714-777-8870, ocwinemart.com

Beverly’s Best Bakery

The Fullerton favorite, above and top, opened its second location here over the summer. Though it’s known for wedding cakes, the bakery’s decadent candy bars, cupcakes, and cookies are worth a taste, too. 4975 Yorba Ranch Road, beverlysbestbakery.com
