Start out on this moderately difficult 4-mile hike walking northwest on a paved ridgeline fire road (Aswut Trail), which has some of the county’s best vistas. Undeveloped Aliso Canyon lies on one side and on the other you’ll have expansive views down into Laguna Beach and the ocean. Then dip into the park via its least-known entrance.
After about a half mile, at a bare area marked by a trash can, turn right onto a dirt trail, which will lead you to the Meadows Trail, which has a sign. It’s a fairly steep, rocky walk down to the meadow. Return on the new Mentally Sensitive Trail, an even steeper path. Be prepared for mountain bikers.
Park on Balboa Avenue where it meets Del Mar Avenue, Laguna Beach.
