Sweetened only with organic maple syrup, the vegan chocolates from Raw Baby are made with ingredients such as virgin coconut oil and raw cacao. We love the dried raspberry and peanut butter crisp flavors, so we sat down with founder Arlena Conner on how the company got its start.
When was Raw Baby founded?
Raw Baby was founded in September of 2017 in my home kitchen. As a trainer and holistic nutritionist for the past 5 years, I always had a passion for healthy food and cooking. I began making this for my loved ones, and was strongly encouraged to start a business, so I did! I still can’t believe how much we have grown in such a short time.
What was your goal for the business?
When I first started Raw Baby, my goal was to promote it to as many local retailers who shared my passion for organic, vegan food. I have always strived to help as many people as possible to change their lives both mentally and physically. I saw this as another way to not only hep people, but create a chocolate product they could enjoy without the guilt. Hence our tagline, “Chocolate without the guilt!”
Where do you source your ingredients from?
Raw Baby uses 100% organic ingredients sourced from some of the best suppliers across the nation. Our base ingredient is organic virgin coconut oil, raw organic cacao, and organic maple syrup as a sweetener. Our ingredients are not only healthy but they are anti-inflammatory and full of antioxidants.
What is the process of crafting these chocolates?
Our chocolate is still handcrafted by me in a local kitchen, right here in Irvine. We still continue to make small batches to keep the quality of our chocolate consistent with the standards we started with in the beginning. Every piece is still flavored individually, by hand with love.
What is your most popular flavor?
Our most popular flavor is definitely our peanut butter crisp. Our customers just love the chocolate and peanut butter with the crispy quinoa on top. We’re also working on a new chocolate mint flavor — coming soon!
