Violence against women is so overwhelmingly prevalent that the idea of fighting this injustice can seem daunting. Yet, Dr. Sandra Morgan is there daily, working to promote justice against women at The Global Center for Women & Justice at Vanguard University. As the nonprofit’s director, Dr. Morgan knows that education is the key. “Study the issues. Be a voice. Make a difference.” In an effort to educate the public about the prevalence of modern day slavery, she produces the bimonthly podcast “Ending Human Trafficking.” That this horror occurs in all societies – even in our own community– can be difficult for some to comprehend. “Teaching healthcare providers to identify and intervene on behalf of trafficked persons integrates my background in pediatric nursing with my education platform.” Dr. Morgan also received her Masters in Leadership Studies at Vanguard University. The program really shined a light on global women’s issues and drove her career choice. “I credit that experience with refining my approach to addressing the kind of challenging and often sensitive issues that I address around violence against women and exploitation.”
