No. 19 Mental Health and Wellness

As a mental health professional, Dr. Michele Lob has many impressive credentials but ultimately, this skilled and compassionate clinician is in the business of transforming lives. With over 16 years of experience, Dr. Lob assists patients suff ering from mood and personality disorders and struggling with relationship issues and emotion regulation such as anger, by using an evidence-based treatment called Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

“DBT is a common sense skills-based approach that incorporates a cognitive behavioral application that diff ers from traditional talk therapies where modules of Mindfulness Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation , and Interpersonal Eff ectiveness are taught,” she explains.

Becoming a DBT therapist takes commitment and years of training. Dr. Lob received intensive instruction from Dr. Alan Fruzzetti and advanced training from Dr. Marsha Linehan, who originally developed the DBT treatment model in the early 1990s. Dr. Lob is also a Licensed Marriage and Family Th erapist MFCC#39932 with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and a Certifi ed Eating Disorder Specialist through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP).

With a practice that is one of the few DBT models in Orange County, Dr. Lob and her team treat adolescents and adults who struggle with emotion regulation, moods, self-harm, suicidality, relationships, self-image, and negative thinking patterns.

“I love teaching and helping others and working within a team environment – it’s exciting when you get to see the patient making shifts in awareness and working to change their behaviors,” she says. “I love being on the journey with my patients and feel extremely fortunate to do the work that I do.”
