At Stitch and Feather, Homey Environment Highlights Boutique Brands

You won’t be greeted with a generic “Welcome” at Stitch and Feather, an O.C.-based women’s clothing boutique with locations in Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Fullerton, and Brea. Instead, owner Candi Anderson aims to make you feel at home. “If you go to your girlfriend’s house they wouldn’t say, ‘Welcome in.’ I always want you to be greeted the same way a friend would, like ‘Hey, how’s it going?’ ” Anderson says. You’ll also be offered a glass of Champagne.

Anderson created a homey environment at her four Stitch and Feather shops with details such as burning candles, antique displays that she finds at flea markets, and flowers and plants placed throughout. The boutique carries several Orange County-based brands—including Amuse Society, Cleobella, and Novella Royale—as well as the boutique’s brand, Lee Out West, known for its popular graphic T-shirts ($28) with sayings such as “Crazy Plant Lady,” “Babeweiser,” and “Music Raised Me.”

The Seal Beach location offers workshops in macramé hangings, watercolor paintings, and lotion making, and Anderson plans to expand these to additional locations and offer more classes such as succulent arranging. She also will open a boutique in Laguna Beach later this year. Starting this fall, Stitch and Feather will carry brands including Boyish Jeans, Diff Eyewear, and more.
