The New York clothing line that began in 2002 with a quest to design sexy trousers and grew into a lifestyle brand, Alice + Olivia opened its first Orange County boutique in November at Fashion Island.
The pieces are upbeat and modern, feminine looks with sophisticated cuts, a vibe carried over into the shop’s decor and the brand’s signature “staceface”—graphic illustrations of creative director Stacey Bendet that appear on everything from T-shirts to skirts to accessories. As Bendet puts it, no one mixes these with more flair than a California girl. “She takes the night pieces and wears them during the day … she throws a beaded bomber jacket over her T-shirt and jeans.”
The boutique houses the complete line—ready-to-wear to gowns, shoes, handbags, and accessories, the latter including a newly launched eyewear collection ($250 to $525) with signature oversize round frames.
We expect the rainbow clutch ($395) and embellished cutoffs ($175 to $550) to be snapped up this festival season. But we’ll take anything from the Tarot collection: the signature maxi skirts and clutches.
