In addition to the very long-awaited completion of the Alton Parkway link between Foothill Ranch and Irvine, Lake Forest residents have something else to celebrate—Orange County’s newest farmers market. The Foothill Ranch Towne Center market is so new, in fact, that [TODAY!], Thursday, is opening day. Hours are 3 to 7 p.m., and a tollway-convenient location makes it accessible to workday commuters. It’s in the easy-access Regal Theaters parking lot. (Did I mention the Alton extension is finally open?)
Market manager Flo Mudge, a Foothill Ranch resident, is applying some serious farmers market cred to make it all happen. She’s a familiar face at Orange County markets, selling her handmade Edible Creations preserves and confections. “I grew up in the San Luis Obispo area, so I’ve been around farmers markets for a long time!” she says. “My parents had a farm, and my mom has a huge garden, and is still selling at a couple of the local markets.” While attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Mudge ran a “grassroots” market, and sold her family’s produce all over central California.
