Four farmers markets are open today in O.C., spanning north to south and morning to evening, including a nostalgic favorite of mine, Fullerton’s 30-years-old-and-counting, near the DMV. My first Orange County farmers marketing took place in Fullerton (at the market’s original Orangethorpe Avenue location) when I lived there in the late 1980s, and I love that there are still some of the same vendors—all of the highest quality—in the lineup. But newer ones too adhere to the high standard set by the estimable Mona Amoon, manager since the market’s beginning. The Fullerton farmers market, along with Costa Mesa’s also-30-plus on Thursdays at the fairgrounds (older by just a couple of months), pioneered the concept in O.C., inspiring the extensive network we benefit from today.
O.C. farmers markets open on Wednesday:
Fullerton, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Irvine, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
San Juan Capistrano, 3 to 7 p.m.
Tustin, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
