Blackmarket Bakery at The Camp in Costa Mesa is a haven of the scratch-made, “gluten-FULL” baked goods chef-owner Rachel Klemek calls “retro-tisanal,” including delicious breads as well as sweets. Klemek recently added espresso drinks, made with Kéan Coffee beans.
During this heat wave, though, what really appeals are her new cookie sundaes, positively decadent combinations of warm Blackmarket cookies and vanilla Hans Homemade Ice Cream (made right down the road near South Coast Plaza). Choose from seven varieties, like Snick at Night ($6.20), a snickerdoodle topped with almond butter, toasted almonds, and caramel, or the Pirates’ Booty pictured ($7.70)—a classic two-tone cookie topped with bacon, bananas, and toasted house-made marshmallows. And of course you can design your own.
The sundaes are available starting at 11 a.m. Perfect with an espresso—on ice!
