If it’s fall, it must be time for Pelican Hill’s annual Festa dell’Autunno, when the resort celebrates the traditional harvest season in a modo molto Italiano street festival this weekend. Expect fast Italian cars and classic Italian art, live music and dancing, and, of course, Italian food and wine, in one of the most beautiful settings in Orange County.
New this year is a family-friendly street festa just for children, 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, with chaperones to supervise activities like Venetian mask decoration and traditional Italian dancing, as well as enjoying a special children’s menu. Guided by Italian flag performers, participants in the Carnevale dei Bambini will dress up in Renaissance-style costumes and take part in the street festa’s procession.
And for the parents of the bambini: Chef Marco Criscuolo collaborates with Michelin-starred chef Filippo Gozzoni from the Armani Hotel Milano for a special menu at Andrea Ristorante, served tonight and Saturday. Criscuolo, recently promoted to executive sous chef of the resort, was before that Andrea’s head chef. New head of the Andrea kitchen is Jonah Amodt—more on him at a later date. Get reservation details for the Andrea dinner and a Sunday jazz brunch here, and overall festa info, including weekend packages, here.
