Foodbeast’s OozeFest Is Cheesier Than Ever

Foodbeast’s OozeFest, representing all things cheesealicious, is back for its second year on Saturday, Oct. 15 and Sunday, Oct. 16. The 4th Street Market-adjacent event promises even more cheese this year, with exclusive dishes from Orange County restaurants, as well as cheesetivities like a 20-foot bed of cheese that’s available for photo ops, and an ooze-dunk game of chance—goggles and poncho provided for those brave enough to take the risk. Jinny’s Pizzeria is sponsoring a cheese pizza-eating contest, or actually pizza-feeding: Teams of two include one feeder and one eater, with the goal of breaking a Guinness World Record for most pizza eaten “without your own hands.” (Read my Q&A with chef Nathaniel Nguyen of Jinny’s here.) Participating restaurants will offer chock-full-of-cheese creations, like Sit Low Pho’s jalapeño popper egg rolls, Chapter 1’s duck croquetas, and Slapfish’s Maine lobster taquitos, which were last year’s first-place popular winner. Attendees can again vote for their favorites, with winners announced after Sunday hours.

There are two ways to attend: A $50 VIP ticket includes all-you-can-consume cheesy food offerings, including some VIP exclusives, and all-you-can-drink craft beer. Or, go general admission for $5, which gains entrance to the Marketplace, on 5th Street between Bush and Spurgeon, where food and drink are buy-as-you-go. More ticket details here.
