Farmers markets, an important part of three-day-weekend cooking strategy

Thursday is an excellent day to get a jump on what’s required for weekend entertaining—particularly when the weekend in question is the three-day Memorial Day holiday. I know I’ll be happily prepping and strategizing for my weekend cooking activities.

Lots of farmers markets are open today to assist in the necessary provisioning: Anaheim downtown (where you’ll find Lupita Zapata and the handcrafted metalware she imports, profiled in an earlier ToOC post), Costa Mesa at the fairgrounds, the evening market in downtown Fullerton, and two in Orange, midday at the shopping center formerly known as the Orange Mall, and then 2 to 6 p.m. at the American Legion Hall on Lemon between Almond and Chapman.

Happy cooking!
