A new building block of food-truck life, only the building is a HOTEL

A new permutation in the perpetually recombinant food truck collective consciousness—a food truck lunchtime roundup at a hotel, in which one of the participants is a truck-shaped simulacrum of the hotel’s own restaurant.

The Hyatt Regency Irvine will have 11 food trucks on site this Thursday, January 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., including one representing its 6ix Park Grill serving sliders of beef, chicken, and ahi. The rest of the lineup comprises Bakery Truck’s fresh baked goods, Barcelona OntheGo’s Spanish food, Chomp Chomp’s Singaporean fusion, Crêpes Bonaparte’s um, crêpes, Louks to Go’s Greek, Piaggio on Wheels’ Argentinian, Rancho A Go Go’s barbecue, Taco Dawg’s yes, tacos and hot dogs, together again, and two different Korean fusion trucks, Calbi BBQ and Dan Dan BBQ.

An hour’s free parking is available in the hotel’s self-park lot, with an “until full” proviso, which does not seem a tremendously huge amount of time for food-truck foraging, but perhaps lunch groups can car pool, divide, and conquer.
