The Newport Beach Farmers Market, subject of a previous ToOC post, has been buffeted a bit by holiday closures in addition to this winter’s weatherly vicissitudes affecting both farmers and customers. However the Sunday market still charms and provides, and now parking in the (convenient!) adjacent small structure is free until 1:30 p.m. —merely take your parking ticket to the market information booth for validation.
Yesterday I happily availed myself of not only validated parking but also yet more of the fabulous beets from Riverside’s Meños Farm, with tops as sweet and useful as the beetroots to which they’re attached, and the green leaf lettuce that has totally rehabilitated green leaf lettuce for me. Green leaf, may I say, it’s good to have you back.
Open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, the Newport Beach Farmers Market is on Via Oporto just off Newport Boulevard.
