Japanese Dollar Store Adventures

I don't know what I've been doing with my life since Daiso Japan opened in Irvine's Heritage Plaza last year, but let me tell you—I've been missing out! Our art director Mindy Benham took a few of us on a field trip there a couple of weeks ago, and now we're obsessed. Sole Searching

Hawaiian sandal stalwart Island Sole is opening its first mainland store at Fashion Island. “Shoppers will find their ‘sole mates’ here,” says Wayne Heck, the entrepreneur-owner. While the store stocks all sorts of sandal brands from internationally popular Havianas to local Rainbows to charitable Freewaters—a newer line that uses a portion of each purchase to help provide clean drinking water to those in need—it features an intriguing distinction: It will carry the widest array of Ugg footwear outside of the brand's stores.

New Year, New Beauty Booty

You know that deep maroon lipstick and funky purple eyeshadow we always think we’re going to wear on some special occasion, but haven’t touched in years? Now we can donate them and get something in return! Spa Gregorie's has set up a beauty product donation station at each of its three spas as a way to launch its new Osmosis makeup line. Osmosis, which works on all skin tones, is made using 100 percent triple-milled minerals and a unique gogi-berry antioxidant blend.
