Ruffle Some Feathers this Fourth of July!

We're all familiar with the food truck craze, but now there's a new kind of truck to get excited about. Pekok Within Boutique is Orange County's first fashion truck to hit the streets. The peculiar name is intended to encourage customers to embrace the idea of peacocking, or "Pekoking": using fashion as a means to attract attention and distinguish oneself. The new business is taking part in the Fourth of July event at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort and Marina July 4th from noon to 10 p.m. and July 5th from 1 to 10 p.m.

Wait, It’s Ladies’ Night?

Ladies’ nights are hidden gems. I caught wind that Center Street Promenade in the newly hip downtown Anaheim area was hosting one last Friday night. The Facebook page promised fun, drink specials (woo!), discounts, DIY crafts, henna (sure, why not?), prizes, and more … so I decided to give it a shot. I grabbed one of my most favorite ladies (Mom), and we headed down to check it out at 6 p.m.

The Aussies Are Coming

The Aussies are coming, the Aussies are coming --- well, their bathing suits are. Seafolly Swimwear, Australia's No.-1 beach brand, just launched their first stateside location at Fashion Island. Brand director Andie Halas felt Orange County was the perfect fit for the company's first U.S. location. "Fashion Island is such a great shopping destination and we noticed a gap. There was no strong swim offering even though it's such a classic, iconic beach location." Whether you choose from lots of bright-colored solids, patterns, or something more classic, tops and bottoms can be mixed and matched for an individual style and perfect fit.

Sole Searching

Hawaiian sandal stalwart Island Sole is opening its first mainland store at Fashion Island. “Shoppers will find their ‘sole mates’ here,” says Wayne Heck, the entrepreneur-owner. While the store stocks all sorts of sandal brands from internationally popular Havianas to local Rainbows to charitable Freewaters—a newer line that uses a portion of each purchase to help provide clean drinking water to those in need—it features an intriguing distinction: It will carry the widest array of Ugg footwear outside of the brand's stores.
