Hurray! A Spring Soiree Dedicated to Rosé

I was doing the mind-numbing Facebook scroll, when my whole world stopped on a “Rosé Soiree” post. I’ve touted my affectations for rosé, even noting a few Italian choices for you just a couple of weeks ago. But, my heart be still for a whole rosé-centric event! The event is May 17, just after Mother’s Day. So if you’re still in the mood to celebrate, bring mom along to toast and taste with your circle of friends.

Rosé Soirée – A Toast to Spring at SoCo and The OC Mix
5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 17
$45 or $25 for LCA Wine Club members

The talented Nancy Milby, owner of LCA Wine in SoCo, curated this tasting of more than 20 rosés from around the globe, including Provence, Italy, and across The New World. One of the things I love about rosé is its diversity. Not all are light pink and smell like strawberries. Each is so different, based on the unique blend of grapes and time on the skins. Considering Milby’s own buying prowess for LCA, personal wine travels, and those on behalf of LCA’s wine vacations, I predict an extraordinary panel appealing to rosé aficionados and those even wary of pink wine.

Rosé is a beautiful food wine with its balanced fruit, dry nature, and acidity. Rose Catering & Events, owned by Le Cordon Bleu graduate Caroline Smith, will showcase the diversity of the rosé pours with her culinary pairings. Smith has a long list of celebrity clients and is renowned for her event production and catering. She has a knack for creating that perfect ambience via the mix of food, florals, and music.

I’m tickled pink (pun intended) about this event! I dig the artisan vibe of the OC Mix and am excited for the opportunity to experience Milby and Smith’s rosé wheelhouse. I’d lock in your reservation early as $45 is a steal for such a quality event (or $25 for LCA Wine Club members).

“Rosé is a wine that entertains long before it even passes your lips.

Its comely colors have in fact been likened to sunset in a glass.”
