Nothing is more stressful then having to sit in traffic, especially after enduring a long day at work. For those of you with long commutes, I feel your pain, and humbly offer you a few destinations for a great glass of wine while you monitor your Sigalert.
The Winery Restaurant and Wine Bar: “Crush Hour” offered at various times throughout the week.
With two locations—Tustin and Newport Beach—The Winery Restaurant and Wine Bar is quickly becoming a pillar of success. For good reason, their wine lists at both restaurants boast an outstanding selection of wines for every budget. Stop in at either location for “Crush Hour,” to enjoy a wide variety of wines by the glass, and appetizers at discounted prices
SeaLegs Wine Bar: Monday through Friday, 4 to 6 p.m. in the bar.
Located in Huntington Beach, SeaLegs Wine Bar pours $5 glasses of wine during happy hour in the bar. Make sure to arrive early, as the place gets packed. Staying for dinner? On Wednesdays, SeaLegs offers half-off its bottles of wine.
Fig and Olive: “Aperitivo Hour,” from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Sunday, in the bar and lounge.
You can find Fig and Olive around the outer ring of Fashion Island, in Newport Beach. Aperitivo Hour offers the options of discounted Mediterranean wines, paired with small bites from France, Spain, and Italy. Try the Tenuta Mazzolino “Terraze” Pinot Nero. This gem has a silky structure, with a nose of ripe farmers market cherries that seems to flow out the glass like fine perfume.
LUCCA: “Wednesdays: wine and cheese, who could ask for more?”
Centrally located in Irvine, LUCCA offers an incredible array of cheeses and wines from around the globe. On Wednesday, the restaurant pairs an artisan cheese board with wines by the glass listed at half price.
