Early November Wine Events in Orange County

Inaugural OCWineFest Postponed, Napa Vs. Sonoma Wine Dinner, And How To Make Your Own Wine

This weekend’s OCWineFest postponed until spring
The inaugural OCWineFest, touted as “Orange County’s signature celebration of all things wine,” has been postponed until spring. It had been scheduled for Nov. 4 and 5 at A Stone’s Throw Winery in San Juan Capistrano, and was postponed due to possible rain in Orange County and because of the ramifications from the wine country fires, according to its website. However, the scheduled charity dinner is still on for Friday, Nov. 3, at Sundried Tomato in San Juan Capistrano, benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The OCWineFest is the brainchild of the team that runs the LAWineFest, which just completed its 12th year. www.ocwinefest.com

Learn to make wine at home from a cellar pro, on Nov. 16
Darren Delmore, author of “Slave to the Vine: Confessions of a Vagabond Cellarhand,” will be at LCA Wine from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, leading a Home Wine Making seminar. Delmore, a former editor for Surfing Magazine and a competitive surfer, chose to follow his passion for wine, landing him in the vineyard working 10 wine harvests. The esteemed wineries he’s passed through include Bonny Doon, Hirsch, Two Hands, and Tablas Creek. This invaluable experience led Delmore to make his own wine at home, which earned a gold medal from WineMaker Magazine. At the Home Wine Making Seminar, Delmore will discuss his experience getting started, provide insider tips, and offer some of his wine for tasting. Cost is $35, and tickets can be purchased online.
