The best part of this job is discovering great cocktails to share with readers. This comes easy after dining at Brunos. This Brea gem offers an impressive collection of drinks to match its menu. When you think Italian, wine seems the more obvious go-to, but I have to say my favorite drink of the night is the restaurant’s ‘865’ Spritz.
Served over ice in a cognac glass, with fresh slices of lemon and cucumber, the cocktail combines two of my favorite libations—Pimm’s and prosecco—in an effervescent take on sangria with an Italian twist. Clean and refreshing, with Campari and ginger, it’s the perfect complement to the restaurant’s Linguini Frutti di Mare, which was so good I could easily dedicate an entire post to the dish alone.
After indulging in this homemade pasta, I could think of no better way to round out the meal than with an after-dinner limoncello—and trust me, Bruno’s has some of the best outside of Italy. Made in-house by infusing vodka with sugar and lemon peels for up to four weeks, it’s so amazing that writing this makes me crave it all over again. If impeccable food, service, and—most of all, cocktails—are what you’re looking for, make the trip to Brea. I assure you, it’s worth it. Salute!
