In Basic programming language, a visit to Bottle Logic might look something like this:
- 10 LOAD “BOTTLELOGIC”, 8, 1
- 20 PRINT “SEVEN DAYS OF SPECIAL BEERS”
- 30 DATA 1, 2, 3, “G’SUFFA”
- 40 IF NOT “FUNDAMENTAL” = “OBSERVATION”, “ISO:FT FO”
- 50 IF SOBER GOTO 10
Compiled, my program would surely get a syntax error, but the logic is there; Bottle Logic Brewing’s second anniversary “Week of Logic” has kicked off, and the beer geek tractor beam is in full force.
Starting on a bright and sunny March 20th morning, a line of over 500 started at 6:30 A.M. and wrapped around the street until late in the evening, all to get a three-bottle allocation of the anniversary beer, Ground State; a bourbon barrel-aged coffee breakfast stout using Coldbot Coffee. The space-black beer is layered with piquant coffee aroma tracers over marshmellowy vanilla and chocolate, backed by warming bourbon.
Day two saw Sour Prince, a European sour saison released among other fun base beer fruit variants. Greedo Begs to Differ pale ale and Guava Ocularity DIPA dazzled my palate with so much fruit, it felt like I was getting my vitamin C for the day. Greedo smelled like the beer version of Squirt soda, so much so I could see using it to make a proper Squirt Engine.
To track progress throughout the week, Bottle Logic is using a tasting guide, where getting daily stamps can yield swag. Three stamps, you can choose one of two new bottle openers. Five stamps, an anniversary Teku glass. All seven stamps? A special edition 64-ounce glass space growler and a golden ticket to a Fundamental Observation 2016 blending event. Speaking of Fundamental Observation, the enigmatic bourbon barrel-aged vanilla stout will round out the week of logic with 4-ounce pours on Saturday. I got a special preview of the beer, and it’s every bit as good as the first year, if not better.
