Anaheim’s Unsung Brewing Co. Celebrates 3 Years of Heroic Beers

Comic books, superheroes, and tasty beer. Three years ago, Unsung Brewing Co. opened its tasting room and pilot brewery in Anaheim across the street from the trendy Packing House. A good number of us were made fun of or cast out for collecting comics. We grew up, developed palates and other passions, and gave our all. I’m sure owner Mike Crea would agree when I ask: Who’s laughing now?

Since opening, there have been some amazing beers. The standout and fan favorite has been Propeller Head, a coffee amber ale that’s approachable for the novice and flavorful for the enthusiast. During the warmer months, enjoy the easy-drinking Buzzman. Try the coffee version, Buzzed Man, too! A must-mention is the Great American Beer Festival bronze medal for the crisp lager Lumino in 2018. My personal favorite has been Kinetica, a helles lager that I thoroughly enjoyed. For the hop-heads, Anthia IPA has been a fan-favorite since inception, and Metaplex will surely satisfy your lupulin cravings.

The tasting room has an impressive display of collectables for you to envy. The massive wall mural is wrapped with hero-like figures that are in fact the logos of Unsung’s core beers. Many will wish this was what their room as a child looked like.

To celebrate these three years, there will be tiki-themed variants, Escape (piña colada in beer form) available in four-packs, branded glassware to commemorate the milestone, and more surprises. Jav’s BBQ, a small but mighty (that’s an Easter egg for the Unsung regulars) food joint that shares a patio with Unsung, will offer a couple of special dishes inspired by Escape. Join them Saturday to raise glass to their success and to, as they say, “Heroic Beer.”
